Space Cameras


The LE-900 reusable space camera was developed as part of a 10 year cooperative effort between the PVPAEO engineering team and the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC).  The camera is used as part of a Video Guidance Sensor System for docking of the Spartan Satellite.  The camera has supported several flights aboard the space shuttle including a variety of satellite applications.  Cameras are also installed and operating in vacuum chamber facilities at the Canadian Space Agency, Sandia National Labs, TRW, and MSFC.  The camera system was recently upgraded for Lockheed Martin to include a digital sensor and built in test capability to verify functionality prior to lift-off.  Each camera weighs less than 3 lbs and is approximately 7" long x 2.7" wide (2 3/8 hex).
